“Nothing about Tami’s approach feels generic, scripted or routine… she tailors everything to who you are, what you’re going through, and what you individually need from each session and as a whole.”
“She adapts as you grow and as your circumstances change, which makes the support feel deeply personal and meaningful. Everything she says is delivered in a warm, nurturing, kind way but she also has an ability to be more direct when needed, which has been super helpful and necessary at times.”
-
“Tami has been a genuine source of strength in my life and an incredible pillar of support during times that felt overwhelming, scary and frightening. I am so grateful for her guidance, compassion, wisdom, and genuine care and I cannot recommend her highly enough.”
-
“I can’t recommend Tami highly enough. I honestly don’t know where I would be without her support over the past few years. She has been there for me through some of the most difficult periods of my life surrounding medical diagnoses and health anxiety.”
-
“My mum dragged me to therapy a few years ago in the hopes of resolving my eating disorder. Reluctant, I agreed, and I am so glad I did. Tami has provided me with the tools to think and behave in a happy and healthy manner on my own. Tami, I cannot thank you enough for all your support!”
hi, I’m dr. tami avis. after 15+ years clinical experience, here is what i know:
Change is always possible
But it rarely happens by being told what to do, or trying to push through on your own.
Real change comes from understanding what’s actually going on, making sense of patterns, thoughts, and experiences, and working through them in a way that feels manageable.
My approach is collaborative. I work things through with you, drawing on my clinical experience and evidence-based therapies, including CBT.
This isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. It’s adapted to you as an individual, and focused on what will genuinely help you move forward.
Who is therapy for?
central & north London therapy
Therapy is something many people can benefit from.
We all navigate the complexities of life, from career pressure to relationship challenges, alongside more personal experiences that can feel harder to carry or articulate.
Often, the people I work with are used to coping on the surface, but have a sense that something isn’t quite right.
Therapy can be particularly helpful if you’re looking for a neutral, private space outside of friends and family, with someone who brings both professional insight and evidence-based psychological approaches to help you make sense of what’s going on, and begin to make the changes you want and need.
“Working with Tami has been one of the most valuable investments I have made in myself.”
“I came to therapy feeling anxious about interpersonal relationships that were causing overthinking and emotional stress. As a naturally analytical person, I was unsure what therapy could offer me because I was used to thinking through problems alone.
Tami offers new perspectives on thoughts I used to ruminate on, while always taking them seriously and working through them with me. She has helped me untangle what is helpful from what is fear driven, striking a balance between validation and gentle challenge.
We have also explored sensitive topics, including eating related struggles, and I have always felt safe, understood, and never judged. I am incredibly grateful to have found her and truly value the process of therapy with her.”

Meet Dr. Tami Avis
central & north London therapist
Even at school, I was genuinely curious about how people think, feel, and cope. And I found people opened up to me.
At 15, a close friend said, “You should be a psychologist, people naturally talk to you.” Little did she know it, but that was one of those moments that shaped the rest of my life!
I went on to study psychology, completing my Doctorate aged 26; a journey that required years of intensive clinical skills training, rigorous research and personal therapy alongside my degree. This shaped not just my professional skills but who I am.
It has been the greatest passion and privilege of mine to become a psychologist and be allowed to enter my clients’ inner worlds. I never take for granted what a honour that is and I remain as fascinated by people today, as I was when I was at school.

We work through things in a way that feels manageable, not overwhelming. I’m here to support you, and help you move forward.
-
Not at all. Therapy can simply be a space to think, reflect, and understand what’s going on, whatever that may be for you.
-
No. While I’m drawing on my experience to understand what’s going on, sessions feel conversational and real. I am simply working things through with you, to best understand how I can support you.
-
You’ll be supported through whatever comes up. There’s space to process things at your own pace, with guidance to help you feel steady and cope with your everyday.
-
That’s completely okay. Part of the process is working that out together. Send me an enquiry and I’ll come back you to discuss more.
